Recently, the grid energy storage research team of the School of Electrical Engineering of ZZU, together with Stanford University and the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Research Institute, has made new progress in the field of battery safety research. Related research results were published online on July 10 in the flagship energy journal Joule under Cell Press (impact factor: 27.054) with a paper entitled “Detection of Micro-scale Li Dendrite via H2 Gas Capture for Early Safety Warning”. Associate professor Jin Yang from the School of Electrical Engineering of ZZU was the first author and co-corresponding authorof the paper, Prof. Cui Yi from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Stanford University was the co-corresponding author of the paper, and ZZU was the first-author unit and corresponding author unit of the paper.

The project was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Science and Technology Project of the State Grid Corporation of China. The research results have been actually applied to the State Grid Jiangsu Province Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Station (200MW). “Hydrogen detectors should be installed in the energy storage cabin.”---this thesis has been written into the standard draft of China Electricity Council “Fire-fighting Technical Code for Prefabricated Cabin Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Energy Storage Power Station “.
